Seeing The Invisible

Just got back from seeing a showcase by The Invisible at The Social. If you're at all fond of The Bloc Party, The TV on the Radios or that there Prince fella this is a band investing some of your increasing rare and valued spare time and energy on.

Yes, an interesting mix of the dark and the funky they distill down TVOTR's unique ability to combine beautiful and soaring sonic design with a driving darkness and despair into something less dense but no less satisfying. Lyrically they tread the line between the Bloc's "picked more wild black....berries" accessibility and the Radio's novel swallowing intelligence. I admire any band so willing to find a groove, get into it and exploit it for all it's worth. Aside from an adventurous and intelligent drummer, frontman and strong bassist they make good use of an extra member running beats, loops and general 'atmos' through a Mac.
